Deshbandhu College for Girls has a very active Psychological Counselling Cell,
that regularly organizes workshops and sessions for students from time to time.
The ongoing pandemic and the lockdown has restricted our physical activities and
forced us into the safe corners of our homes. But this recluse in turn has lead to
distress, depressions and various other psychological issues. Thus it becomes
utmost important to address such issues especially in times like this. Psychological
Counselling Cell, Deshbandhu College for Girls took the help of the virtual mode to
address such issues and organized a Mental Health Workshop for the students with
our very own resource person, External Member to the Psychological Counselling
Cell, Clinical Psychologist & Counsellor, Prof. Rakhi Sengupta.
Prof. Sengupta is the only Sandplay therapist in India (Certified from Singapore),
only clay therapist (Certified from Australia), only Restorative Justice practitioner
(Certified from Singapore), Play therapist for Children (Certified from New Zealand,
PTI), Grief recovery specialist (Certified from USA), Art therapy Specialist, Drama
and movement therapist (Certified from Australia), NLP practitioner (Certified from
USA, India), Lego Therapist for children (Certified from Singapore), EMDR Level 1
Certified Trauma Therapist (from India), and Somatic Integration Therapist
During registration for the Webinar, students were
asked to write their specific questions/issues that they
would like to discuss and the entire session was
conceptualized based on these issues and other relevant
issues suitable to the pandemic times.
Interested students were asked to join the session to
directly interact with Prof. Sengupta and participate
in various activities. Live audience on YouTube were
asked to follow the same instructions and participate in
the workshop from their home.
The workshop involved various sounds, musical
instruments, colors, arts, poetries, etc. The workshop
was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by the
interacting students as well as the live audience. The
session also involved interactions between the Speakers
and the live audience whose questions were taken from
the live chat during the broadcast.
The YouTube video has generated 781 views till date,
and has been appreciated by all.
The webinar generated very positive feedbacks from the
audience, who pointed on the importance of such
lectures and appreciated the efforts we had put in.
Most of the students thanked the College for
organizing such a helpful workshop.
